The Drainchem vacuum testing trolley
(model 1000-75) is designed to generate negative air
pressure (Vacuum) for the purpose of testing for leakage in
pipes and manholes.
The unit consists of a trolley style galvanised frame with a
Kohler petrol 2701 7hp engine and 2:1 reduction gearbox
coupled by a love joy coupling to a Masport HXL2V vacuum
pump.
The pump generates 75cfm of air movement at 5”Hg and 60cfm
at 27” Hg. The Masport HXL2V features an automatic
adjustment free mechanical oil pump. This ensures that the
pump always has the correct amount of oil at any speed or
vacuum level (providing there is oil in the reservoir).
Avoid manually adjusted drip oil systems.
The 1000-75 can also be used for pressure testing to 15
PSIG. It should be noted that the hoses fitted are for
vacuum applications but pressure hose are available if you
intend to use this unit for pressure testing.
The inlet of the pump is connected to a hose going to the
plug or plate blocking the “space” to be tested. The air
extracted from the space passes through the pump and is
exhausted to atmosphere. Some oil may be carried with this
air from the pump through the exhaust.
Once connected to the space the motor can be started and run
at full revs for maximum performance. Once operating the
pump will extract the air from the space.
The vacuum gauge
will not move until considerable air is evacuated.
As the
air is removed the vacuum level will increase.
Be sure to
vacuum to the test level plus 5%.
The pump is capable of
“full” vacuum and this could cause some pipe types to
collapse if over vacuumed.

lifting point for easy lifting
• 10” pneumatic tyres for easy movement on site
• Powerful 7Hp Kohler petrol engine for reliable
service
• Tough Masport HXL2V capable of 75 cfm and 27”Hg (2122lpm
and .91 bar)
• Integral valve that allows the pump to operated in
vacuum and pressure mode
• Vacuum relief valve for safety
• Automatic adjustment free mechanical oil pump for a
long lasting pump
• 15 metres of vacuum hose with cam locks
Calculations
• A Cubic foot is equal to 28.3
litres
• 75 cfm is 2122.5 litres of air
• A 900mm diameter manhole or pipe 1 metre deep (long)
holds 636 litres of air
How much air do you need to move?
To calculate the volume of air to be extracted simply
multiply radius (1/2 the diameter) x radius x3.142.
EG 900mm pipe 5 metres long .450x.450x3.142 x5 = 3181 litres
rounded
The Drainchem 1000-75 will evacuate a 4 metre (16feet) man
hole in 45 seconds to 27” Hg.
Fast testing identifies leaks more effectively and will be
appreciated by your work crew who may be used to a slow unit
that may take 2 minutes to evacuate the same manhole to 10”
Hg and then another 2 minutes to vacuum down to 28” Hg.
